San Francisco, May 23, 2008 – The new 63,000-square-foot, Daniel Libeskind-designed Contemporary Jewish Museum, in San Francisco’s Yerba Buena cultural district celebrates its Grand Opening with a pre-opening ticketed party, DAWN, on Saturday, June 7, 2008 – doors open at 8pm. The following day, Sunday, June 8, 2008, the Contemporary Jewish Museum will celebrate its official Grand Opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony and free admission to the Museum. Ribbon cutting at 10:00 AM.  Doors officially open to the public at 11 AM – 5:30 PM.

Be one of the first to experience San Francisco’s newest museum. With performances, films, special appearances, and installations taking place simultaneously throughout the Museum, DAWN ’08 will feature an evening packed with headlining performances and events including a Bay Area exclusive performance with Cambodian and American psychedelic pop sensation, Dengue Fever, and the rare opportunity to catch Jonathan Safran Foer, author of the international bestseller Everything Is Illuminated, in conversation, and a unique, late-night, live performance in front of the Jewish silent film, Benya Krik. In addition, world groove pioneer DJ Yossi Fine—who has collaborated with the likes of David Bowie, Eryka Badhu, Naughty By Nature and Me’shel Ndegeocello—will take command of the dance floor.

Following the Grand Opening ribbon cutting celebration and building dedication, the Contemporary Jewish Museum (CJM) will officially open its doors to the public for a full day of activities. Visitors will enjoy Target sponsored admission-free access to the Museum, its inaugural exhibitions, stunning architecture, as well lively music, family-friendly hands-on activities, storytelling and more.
